At the end of 2017, there were a total of 996,600 MultiSport card users, of which 865,500 were in Poland and 131,100 on foreign markets - in the Czech Republic (approx. 74,000), Bulgaria (approx.. 48,000) and Slovakia (approx.. 9,000). The increase in the number of cards was partially related to the effective use of market potential associated with the growing popularity of a healthy and active lifestyle, both in Poland and abroad, and activities that increase the attractiveness of the card and maintain year-round activity among users.
The revenues of the Sport Cards segment (the sales of cards in Poland) in 2017 amounted to PLN 730.7 million and were 17.7 percent higher compared to 2016, while the revenues of the Foreign segment (aggregated results of the companies from the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Bulgaria) over that period amounted to PLN 91.9 million, which represents more than a twofold increase year on year.
For a few years now, the Benefit Systems Group has been directly investing in the development of the fitness industry in order to provide a suitable sports infrastructure to the growing number of MultiSport card users. As part of these activities, at the end of 2017, subsidiaries managing fitness clubs ran a total of 77 clubs in Poland and 12 abroad (in the Czech Republic and Bulgaria). In addition, the Group holds shares in companies managing 56 additional clubs, and a signed conditional agreement regarding the acquisition of 15 S4 clubs. In the period at hand, the Fitness segment generated PLN 180 million in sales revenues. The Fitness segment is fully complementary with the Sports Cards segment and guarantees increased space by newly opened clubs, which increases the attractiveness of the offer to sports card users.
The Cafeteria segment, i.e. the MultiKafeteria and MyBenefit platforms, responsible for the distribution of additional non-wage employee benefits in the areas of sport, culture and tourism, in 2017 recorded an increase in the number of users to 300,000. The turnover on the cafeteria platforms in that period amounted to a total of PLN 246.2 million, which represents a 26% increase year-on-year.
